French striker Kylian Mbappe was reintegrated into the Paris Saint Germain first team after constructive discussions with the club.
Mbappe was also not officially called up by manager Luis Enrique for PSG's season-opening draw against Lorient on Saturday.
“After very constructive and positive discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG - Lorient match, the player was reinstated in the first training team this morning,” PSG said in an official statement on Sunday.
The development comes after it was reported that Mbappe is likely to renew his contract with PSG after a long transfer saga.
According to renowned journalist Andres Onrubia Ramos, there is increasing optimism at PSG that Mbappe will renew his contract.
It must be noted that the club insisted that Mbappe signs a contract renewal in order to ensure that he doesn’t leave for free next season.
The PSG high-ups believe that Mbappe already has a contract in place with Real Madrid and he will join the Whites in the summer of 2024.
To push the striker out of the club, the French club has already gone to extremes. Last month, Mbappe was excluded from the club’s squad for their Asian pre-season tour.
PSG did not only exclude Mbappe from the pre-season squad, they also decided to send him to train with discarded players, who are no longer part of the project.
Earlier, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said that Mbappe will be reintegrated into the first team after extends his contract.
PSG had also told Mbappe that he won’t play for the club this season if he stays to run out his contract.
There was uncertainty around Mbappe’s contract renewal since the players felt betrayed by the club. After signing a renewal in 2022, the cub had promised Mbappe that they would sign big names, like Bernardo Silva and Robert Lewandowski, however that was not the case.
Earlier, Saudi club Al-Hilal officially submitted a massive €300m bid for Mbappe. However, the offer was rejected by the footballer since he dreams about playing for Madrid.
